As any athlete with a little experience knows, what you put into your body is what you get out of it. Don’t believe me? Just try eating a burger and fries the night before a big event, maybe indulge in a beer or three. Your performance will suffer. Along with an effective training schedule, what you ingest is the most important factor in determining performance during an event and recovery speed afterwards.
I’ve been involved in sports since I was 4 years old. I started track in 7th grade and competed in the High School New York State Championships as a senior, in the 100 meter hurdles. I even missed walking in my high school graduation for that one! I continued to compete in college, at Division I Fordham University, where I broke school records in the 55 meter hurdles and 100 meter hurdles. After college, when I decided to attend law school, I knew I needed a hobby that would keep me focused on my goals of staying fit and healthy, and allow me to compete.
My training regiment leading up to a competition is intense and I need a lot of energy. For 16 weeks prior to a fitness show, I work out twice a day, 6 days a week in order to look great on stage. I need a protein supplement that won’t leave me lethargic and bloated and won’t upset my stomach.
